The 20th Annual Sandhill Crane Festival is soliciting original artwork for its art show.

Art will be displayed as part of the Festival - November 4-6, 2016 - at Hutchins Street Square in Lodi, California.

There are 2 divisionsFine Arts (oil, watercolor, pastel, sculpture, etc.) and Photography.

Two subject categories will be displayed in each division:
1) Sandhill Cranes
2) Other California wildlife and their natural habitats.

Judging and Awards
Fine Art and Photography will be judged separately by invited judges. Visitors to the exhibit will vote for their favorite fine art piece and photograph during the show for 1 “People’s Choice Award” in each Division. Cash prizes will range from $25 to $100.

Show inclusion will be determined from digital images. Please submit one image per entry; for 3-dimensional works or for certain 2-dimensional works where detail is essential, two digital images per entry will be accepted.

Digital images must be submitted by either emailing a TIFF or JPEG file (300 DPI preferred), to or by mailing a CD-R with the digital images to the address below.

Entry deadline October 1, 2016. An entry form must be completed and submitted with your digital images or slides.

Entry Fee
The fee is $10 for each entry. An artist may enter up to 3 pieces of art each Division and Category and will donate 25% of any art sales to the Sandhill Crane Festival.

The Sandhill Crane Festival Art Committee retains discretion as to what constitutes suitable or appropriate artwork to be included in the show. All artwork and photographs depicting Sandhill Cranes will be considered for the 2016 Sandhill Crane Festival promotional and publicity art.

There are no age restrictions. All artwork must be original and the property of the artist submitting the work. No substitutes of accepted artwork will be allowed.

Any 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional art media are accepted, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, photographs, pencil, pen & ink, and charcoal drawings, prints, mixed media, sculpture, and ceramics. No limited edition prints, airbrush, crafts, or computergenerated or computer-manipulated artwork will be considered. Camera add-on lenses, filters, and scopes are permitted. Photographs should be taken in California to be consistent with the theme of California wildlife and their natural habitats.

Two-dimensional artwork must be suitably framed, wired, and ready to hang, and may not exceed 48” in width or 36” height, including frame. Three-dimensional pieces must have a firmly attached base and may not exceed 50 pounds. If the artwork requires any special hanging hardware, stands, or display directions, they must be included with the artwork.

Each artwork must have a label securely attached to the back or bottom with the artist's name, address, phone number, title of work, medium, and price (or NFS).

Utmost care will be taken in the handling and security of your artwork. By participating, you agree to hold harmless the Lodi Sandhill Crane Association Board of Directors and associates, the Lodi Arts Commission, and Hutchins Street Square for any damage that may result from your participation.

Accepted artwork will need to be delivered to the Cottage Room of Hutchins Street Square either Thursday, November 3rd, from 5 to 7 p.m. or Friday, November 4th, from 9 to 11 a.m. Artwork must be picked up at the end of the Festival on Sunday, November 6th, between 4 and 5 p.m.
